The Confrontation with one’s own I

"Innenwelten" (Inner Worlds) lure to the Sylt Quelle. The performance of Clarina Bezzola presented intention and meaning of the exhibition in a compact delivery.

Rantum /Leo- In the exhibition Innenwelten the curator Indra Wussow combines eight artists of most differentiating fields. Their work is being brought together in context to the legacy of Sigmund Freud-the main theme of the third science summer in Sylt. In fact, while viewing videos, paintings, writing and objects, one is being confronted with one's own self intensly. Even critics testify with their reactions, that they were deeply touched emotionally. But as we all know the situation with art, there are likes and dislikes.

In the Kunstraum Sylt-Quelle the exhibition Innenwelten offers an opportunity, until the end of august, to stand or sit in dialogue with the presentations of the artists. Sitting on coffee bean bags, for example, with a free view to the stunning Rantum bay. Sound-and video-recordings, as well as texsts, paintings, sketches, photographs and objects are being offered.

The Performance

The announced tour before the performance of Clarina Bezzola on Aug. 2nd. did not take place. "There are so many visitors. Every one wants to have an individual exchange and in that way I can better respond to each personal inquiry." The curator explained. After the viewers had a chance to get acquainted with the exhibition, the time came: The performance of Clarina Bezzola began. And she convinced the audience with her actions. The artist plays with time and pause, with voice, songs rimes and words and gradually, wittnessed by the public, turns her inside towards the outside. "There is an empty space in my heart"; she calls out in English. And "I am in here somewhere" in German. Finally the artist vanishes from the stage completely nude. In a compact delivery she illustrates to the public the intention and the meaning of the exhibition: The constant, insecure, proud, warm-hearted and many times hard confrontation with one self.
